* As a personal checking account customer of United Bank of Union, you're entitled to enjoy the benefits of Protect-A-Check overdraft protection. When you maintain a personal account in good standing (making regular deposits and bringing your account to a positive balance at least once every 30 days) United Bank of Union will honor overdrafts up to the pre-assigned account limit. All insufficient funds fees will be assessed for each transaction and deducted from your limit. You will be notified by mail for each overdraft. No interest will be charged on the overdraft balance.

An overdraft notice will be sent each time items are paid or returned. Overdrafts that exceed the established Protect-A-Check limit may result in checks being returned to the payee unpaid. An insufficient funds fee per item will be assessed to your account and the overdraft notice will notify you of our actions. Make sure you deduct all in sufficient funds fees from your checkbook when you receive your notice(s).

Your Protect-A-Check limit may be available for checks and other transactions made using your checking account number or automatic bill payment and recurring debit card payments.  Also, at your request, we may authorize and pay ATM transfers or withdrawals and everyday debit card transactions using your limit.  Whether your overdrafts will be paid is discretionary and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing, or you are not making regular deposits, or you have too many overdrafts.
